Trading Links – A Few “Did You Know’s…”

Filed under: Marketing, SEO, WAHM, Website Design — Kristine - A WAHM @ 12:24 am

Bear with me if some of this is common sense for you but I feel as if some of these may be worth repeating…

Did you know…that trading links is a must-have for your website? You should link to good quality websites as well as have other sites linking back to you. Ideally the text that links to you should have the anchor text (the part of your link that is “clickable”) as your keywords instead of “click here”.
Did you know…that where those links come from make a bigger impact on your rankings than the link itself? If Yahoo or CNN was linking to you that would be as sufficient as 100 other relatively small sites linking to you. So look for sites that have a decent page rank of 5 or above.

Did you know…that the content of the website from where the link is coming from makes a large impact on your rankings? You don’t want a motocycle website linking to fine wines. They just aren’t related in search engine’s eyes. Grapes on the other hand would be and would be considered a relevant link.

Did you know…that you should never, ever purchase bulk links from a company? Who knows where these links are coming from and what value (good and bad) they are giving you. It is much better to know who is pointing to you by actually purchasing links from a reliable source or being sure you are listed in websites like the Yahoo directory.I hope that helps clarify some linking questions that I know some of you have had. We cover some other areas of linking on our website as well.

How An Internet Scam Works

Tell you what, if you let me sound like a broken record for just a second, I’ll give you some typical work-at-home scenarios that are usually scams. Fair enough?

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

How many times have you heard that one? It seems that we need to say this to people more and more these days. Is it possible to make a LOT of money on line?

Absolutely!!!!

Is it possible to make a lot of money online and NOT have to work for it?

Absolutely NOT!!!

All success and the money that follows comes from dedication and hard work. Nothing is just going to be given to you on a platter. If this were true then everyone would be rich.

Whenever you run across something that “sounds too good to be true” ask yourself why the person is selling this particular product in the first place. If it works as well as they say it does they would have no reason to have to sell it to you. And if it’s out of the goodness of their own hearts to share with you these wonderful secrets that they have found to be true resulting in “instant wealth” then I’m sure they’re not taking any of the profits of the sale themselves are they?

Ok, let’s get to the nitty gritty of it all…

Take a survey and get instant cash. Or better yet, earn hundreds of dollars just by taking surveys from home and working in your spare time. The survey companies typically ask you to pay a certain dollar amount to take the survey’s and after promising you these hundreds of dollars for doing the work you may only end up with a few cents in your pocket.

Stuff an Envelope and/or Assemble a Craft – Boy, how long has this been around? Usually what happens in this case is that you are again asked to pay money to join the company and then are asked to stuff envelopes or assemble some kind of craft. What you may not realize is that these crafts need to pass “quality inspection” which they rarely do and in many cases, you are never paid anything. Stay away from these.

Make $XXXX.00 Overnight! Or some other get rich quick scheme. These companies promise you high returns for very little work and once again, you have to pay to “get in”. This is yet another opportunity that you need to let pass you by.

Have you noticed a recurring theme in all of these? If you said “paying money” then congratulations to you!!!

You should never have to pay money in order to make money. A legitimate work-from-home job will not ask this of you. To be fair there are some honest and legitimate work-from-home opportunities out there and I by no means wish to imply that all of them are bad but have your eyes wide open and your common sense at the ready for any opportunity you may wish to engage in.

All the best,

Kristine
