Sick and Tired of Reading?

Filed under: Marketing, Niches, Traffic, WAHM, articles — Kristine - A WAHM @ 7:39 pm

We have just added two brand spanking new articles to our website. What’s so exciting about that? They are ONLY in audio format!

If you are tired of reading and want to listen instead, turn up your speakers and get some great advice in the process.

Point your mouse to http://www.be-a-wahm.com/index.php and click on the “Audio Only Articles” link under “New!!”.

Until next time,

If you have never viewed a smackdown…

Filed under: Copywriting, Marketing, Niches, WAHM, articles — Kristine - A WAHM @ 7:59 pm

do it now.

One of my favorite guys on the Interent is Jim Edwards and his Niche Advertising Secrets. He knows his stuff and gets his message across in such a unique way that it’s no wonder he has tons of followers!

In one of his most recent posts, he talks about some rather unscrupulous characters that are going to ClickBank, finding good selling books, rewriting them for themselves (often times without changing much) and the reselling them on the market as their own.

A side note: ClickBank is one of the best ways to sell your e-book if you have (or plan to) write one.

This makes me nearly ill and is close to my heart because I have been working on an e-book especially for new WAHMs and Dads that explains clearly how to start an online business.

I will be giving this away to my newsletter subscribers for free but plan on selling it for a decent amount of money on ClickBank – it contains over 10 years of Internet experience so you can probably see why I don’t want to give it away to everyone.

But I digress…

I’m concerned as well and rightly so as you can imagine.

The Friday Night Smackdown has some “adult” language in the video so I don’t suggest you watch it with your kids but it is very enlightening and entertaining as well as only Jim can do it and he brings to light a very powerful message.

Latent Semantic Indexing – LSI (did your “boooooorrrrrinnng” light come on?)

Filed under: Marketing, Niches, SEO, WAHM, articles, keywords — Kristine - A WAHM @ 7:14 pm

I’m only going to touch on this briefly here. There will be a much larger article about LSI on our website at http://www.be-a-wahm.com.

LSI is really beginning to come to the forefront of website optimization. It’s not an unknown term but it is not widely known. Without causing your eyes to glaze over, it’s simply a way the search engines read your page and understand what your webpage is about.

A good example is “bark” Is your site about the “bark” of a dog or the “bark” of a tree?

Search engines have their own ways of discerning this and we’ll get into it further on our website but suffice it to say that there are certain ways you can write your webpage so as not to confuse the search engines as to what your website is about.

All right, if you’re interested in learning more, check out our web page about it.

An by the way, just in case you are interested, these words are also called homographs.

What Does Private Label Rights Mean?

Filed under: Marketing, Traffic, WAHM, articles — Kristine - A WAHM @ 8:30 pm

You’ve probably heard about Private Label Rights if you do a lot of online marketing. If not, and you plan to build a business online, you should know what they are unless you have every intention of working your fingers to the bone.

In which case you don’t have a business, only a hobby.

Private Label Rights or PLR products are usually articles that you can do absolutely anything you want to and with.

Someone else has already done the research and writing for you. This is kind of like hiring your own writer only PLR groups typically allow the same articles to be purchased by a set number of people.

This allows the price of the articles to remain low while still keeping the competition to a minimum.

Other advantages of PLR Articles are:

  • You can put your own name on the product as if it were your own. Even putting your name on it as the author.
  • Package the product in whatever manner you want. If you just want to use the articles for your own website for content that’s fine. If you want to submit to article directories in order to drive traffic to your site, that’s ok too.
  • You can combine it with other items you are selling to boost the cost of your product.
  • Print it out and send it to your customers.
  • Whatever you’d like!

Some programs require that you make significant changes to the articles before submitting to article directories or elsewhere but in the end, they save you a ton of work and for not a lot of money every month.

So if you’re struggling to find good content for your site, just look to a PLR group.

I’ll update this post in a few days with links to quality PLR sites :-)

As promised, here is a very high-quality PLR site.

Until next time!

What is (and isn’t) duplicate content – quit being lazy!

Filed under: SEO, Traffic, WAHM, articles — Kristine - A WAHM @ 7:58 pm

There seems to be a growing debate about what is and what isn’t duplicate content.

I even saw where someone gave advice and said to write one set of articles for article directories and then turn around and write another set for your website so that you weren’t penalized by Google for having duplicate content.

Another person then suggested that no, it wasn’t duplicate content because you were doing that, it was because you were putting your name on an article that someone else wrote.

This person is at least partway there…

Let’s put it right for you so that you aren’t so confused…

Duplicate content is duplicate content period.  For example:

“Jane walked the dog.  The dog was white.  The dog loved to be walked.” – simple I know but bear with me here….

Duplicate content:

“Jane walked the dog.  The dog was white.  The dog loved to be walked.”

No difference whatsoever!  That is duplicate content – regardless of who wrote it or where it resides.

What Google doesn’t like is the same exact content showing up on hundreds of unrelated web sites.  The above statement could reside on a dog site, a story site, a learn to read site, heh, even this site.  That is duplicate content.

So what are you supposed to do?  You need to get your name out there and get articles written so that you can submit them to article directories and have them point back to you but you simply don’t have the time to write as many articles as are needed to keep it new and original.

You can become a member of a PLR (Private Label Rights) site. Typically these groups are limited to a certain number of memberships.

You pay your monthly fee and every month receive hundreds of articles to use as you wish.  You can put your name at the bottom of each and every one of them and claim them as your own if you wish – even submit them to article directories.

Where “duplicate” content comes into play is the plain and simple laziness of these members who don’t take the time to rewrite these articles so that they at least offer some kind of value to the site visitor.

So all of a sudden you’ll see hundreds of articles on the same topic showing up in article directories and websites everywhere where no one bothered to make any changes whatsoever.

This is duplicate content and this is what Google hates.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, to create a true internet business takes time and work.

It is not wrong to have other people write articles for you.  It is wrong to not add your personal touch to them and be sure you’re information is completely unique!
